As we approach the end of the semester, the children and I are working hard to make as much progress as we can.
The children are full of curiosity – which is the best gift anyone can have. They wanted to know more about “dotted notes”. I explained it, but perhaps you can discuss it some more : a DOT following a note increases the note value by HALF. So a dot after a 1/2 note (2 beats) adds ONE MORE BEAT. A dot after a 1/4 note (1 beat) would add 1/2 beat. A dot after a whole note (4 beats) would add 2 beats. This is a lot for such a young person to understand but they wanted to know! Great questions
Brynn is working with Mozart on lesson 32, and learning a lot of new concepts. She gets discouraged sometimes but has no reason to – her work is great. She has mastered the note values well. Just make sure you use the correct fingers. Once you place your hand on the keyboard – try to leave it there with one finger on each key. You are playing really well.
Callie worked really hard and completed two lessons! Next class she will go into LEVEL 2A and do lesson 31! Bravo – you have worked so hard – I just love your hand position!
Max chose LONDON BRIDGE to work on this week. We are all looking forward to hearing it next week. Next week Max will move up to the next level – Level 2A and begin to learn about Mozart. Such great work Max
Colin completed lesson 38, 39 and will move up into Level 2B next week ! Will you please choose a new song ? As always – excellent work, Colin
Amelia completed lesson 72 and we reviewed note names. Please spend some more time on this so she feels completely comfortable. Amelia plays songs with flats and sharps really well. Next week we’ll choose a new song to learn. Great class Ameila.
Have a nice sunny week -
Catherine
