Hello Parents
My only reminder to everyone is hand position! This is not because I’m just picky – a good hand position enables you to go from one note to the next more easily, use the correct finger AND it’s the only way that you will ever be able to play fast! Some of you are quite advanced as far as lessons and music learning, but it will be difficult to keep moving forward unless you use a rounded hand position and the correct finger on each key.
So …. When you sit at the keyboard, hold your invisible ball. Then, keeping your hands in this rounded position place your hands on the keyboard with thumbs on Middle C. Make sure that each finger goes on it’s own key. KEEP BOTH HANDS THERE WHILE YOU P LAY – you never know when then music may require you to use the other hand ! Speaking of ”the other hand” ….. PLEASE be sure that you use the left hand for any note below Middle C, and the right hand for any notes above Middle C.
ZHI HAO completed lesson 63 and discovered “sharps” (#). When a note has a “sharp #” sign it means that instead of the regular note you play 1/2 step higher – usually the black note to the right. Great work Zhi Hao.
Matthew completed lesson 16 and has made BIG improvements since last week! He is starting to really get the idea of one note higher and one note lower. He played Hot Cross Buns AND beat “Bongo Boy” in the rhythm game . Bravo on both of these difficult things!
LUKE Blazed ahead and completed lesson 30. Wow Luke ! He has a lovely hand position and now has a new teacher ” Mr. Mozart”. I hope next week you can tell the class a few interesting things about Mozart. Excellent work Luke.
GRADY completed lesson 53. Please learn “Liza Jane” this week. I know you are so anxious to have Mr. Chopin for a teacher…you are almost there! Complete lessons 54, 55 and then Mr Chopin will be ready for you!
MARTIN completed lesson 43. Please surprise us with a new song !
Thanks everyone
Have a great week – it looks like spring has actually sprung !
